NEWS ON THE MARCH

Happy Memorial Day! I hope you had a pleasant three day weekend. We're gearing up for the final push--just 14 more school days. This is the second to last NOTM. C'mon Fireballs, let's end this year on one incredible note. I assure you that these final days are going to be so memorable. Here we go!



Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Donations - will be extended. $23.05(check) for entrance fee and rides + $10 cash for dinner barbecue food.  We're still taking donations!


Morning Cafe: The popular cafe will be CLOSED this week. 


Robert's Market - our visit will be on JUNE 12. Bring your singing voices! 


ELA: We finish our persuasive unit on Wednesday. The students learned quite a bit about thesis sentences, reasons, and supporting evidence.

Read Aloud - Sophia's War by Avi. 
  • R.CCR.5. Analyze the structure of texts, including how specific sentences, paragraphs, and larger portions of the text (e.g., a section, chapter, scene, or stanza) relate to each other and the whole.

Book Club - The students are working in pairs. They're focusing on plot, characters, setting, conflict, resolutions, themes, literary devices, questions, etc.

History-Social Science: For the month of May we'll focus on Unit 7(Forming a New Nation) and Unit 9(States and Capitals). The Fireballs will focus on...

  • Articles of Confederation
  • New Constitution of 1787 and Bill of Rights
  • Constitutional Democracy
  • Compare powers given to citizens, Congress, president, and Supreme Court
  • Safeguarding the liberty and rights of individual Americans
  • Know the location of the current 50 states and the names of their capitals
UNIT 7 TEST WILL BE ON MAY 28TH.
UNIT 9 TEST WILL BE ON MAY 29TH.

Grammar: The students will focus on simple and complex sentences, fragments, run-ons, and nouns. The students will use IXL to help bolster skills.

 
Math: We'll focus on Unit 12 which covers prime factorization, greatest common factors, probability, ratios, and heart rate.

Science: We're done. Congratulations!
