Book Clubs and Animal Introduction

Tonight you'll get an opportunity to work on Book Club and Animal Presentation.

Directions: Read the questions carefully. Answer with great precision, detail, and writing energy.

BOOK TALK
1. During book group discussion, what might a great talk amongst your group look like? Be specific.
2. What are some specific things you might here within the great conversation. PLEASE USE QUOTES TO SUGGEST SOMEONE IS SPEAKING.

3. What's the title of your book?
4. What page are you on?
5. Find 2 vocabulary words that you like. Write down the word, part of speech, syllables, and root or prefix.
6. I'm excited to read on because...?
7. My main character has changed since the beginning by...?
8. Can you find any new metaphors, similes, personification, or hyperbole? What page number did you find the figurative language?

1. List any sources where you've obtained information on your animal.

    2. Tigers are very fascinating creatures and are important to me. But what really makes me wonder is why are they important to the world? I know they have a use because if they didn't they probably wouldn't be endangered. Every day we lose a tiger one by one but I know when we stop killing them they won't be endangered anymore.

    1. A book club group should be tuned to each other and engaged. They should have there books out when someone else is reading and shouldn't be distracted or distracting someone else.

    5. The book doesn't have any vocabulary words. The whole book is in slang.
    6. I can't wait to read about the next time Cooter and Elijah see each other after Cooter blames Elijah for being ignorant and Cooter got tortured by Mr. Travis.

    b) I found a section on the aye-aye in the World Book.
    c) I found a section on the aye-aye in a DK book called Animals.

    #1. One of the most important jobs for a book club discussion is to make eye contact and ask questions to move the conversation along.
    #2. Maybe a random question would be, "Why do you think Bud ran away from his adopted parents, is it because…" "…I disagree because…"… I agree because…" ect.

    #2. Did you know that Red pandas have different names depending on where you are. In Nepal, they’re called bhalu biralo. Sherpas call the critter ye niglva ponva or wah donka, or that the red panda’s use their tongue to detect different scents!

    1. Red Panda's are one of my favorite animals!!!!!!!! I just choose the Aye-Aye because I knew many people would want the red panda. Great response!! It was very detailed.

    1. You should sit in a circle, and each have a turn talking about something about your book. You should have an inside voice, (if outdoors be not too loud), and be engaged, and not silly.

    5. Subdue, verb, 2, sub. Knackebrod, a very crisp and brittle unleavened rye bread made in large flat circular pieces often with a hole in the center.
    6. I'm excited to read on because I want to know if the children, and some adults can deliver all the kroner under the snow, and hidden when the Nazis are here.
    7. My main character has changed since the beginning by becoming independent, and not relying on his father, or mother, or anyone, but himself.

    2. Is it a beaver without a tail? A hairy pig without a snout? No, its the amazing, Capybara. This animal is the largest rodent on the planet, standing at 2 feet tall. This delightful creature is found east of the Andes, on Central, and South american rivers. Theres more about this weird creature, that will interest you more.

    The American Alligator lives mainly on the atlantic and gulf coasts of North America. They live in swampy areas and use their powerful tail to propel them through the water. They are active all year but mostly in the warmer months.

    2. What is black and brown and red on the belly? The fire bellied newt! Newts can live on land, underwater, or both. This is just one of the amazing facts about the Chinese fire bellied newt. They first start as tadpoles living entirely underwater, then they become young newts, living entirely on land. One adults they can choose, and live on land, in the water, or both.

    I can't find any vocab. words.

    I wonder if MR. LEROY will tell 'Lijahs parents about what he called his class mates.

    Opening his eyes and understanding the real world. (ex. Preacher.)
    8. Can you find any new metaphors, similes, personification, or hyperbole? What page number did you find the figurative language?
    There aren't any of those that I can find with the time I have.

    The Trachypithecus francoisi francoisi, or the Francois Langur is a primate mammal.
    They have black fur with white stripes stretching from ear to ear, and a black crest atop their head.Young Langur have a bright orange coloring. This unique species is only found in Southern Guangxi province of China, Northern Vietnam and West-Central Laos. This primate species occupies dense forests, where they climb through the canopy in search of leaves on which to feed.
