What will you pick?

Tonight you'll get the opportunity to work on a story. Choose from one of the prompts. Write a beginning, middle, and end.

  • You went on an archaeological dig with a team from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. What did you find that was super important?
  • "Mr. Frederick, I can't take the Social Studies test because..."
  • Describe what happened to you on the day that the new zookeeper left the gates open and all of the animals escaped.

  3. I would pick describing what happened to me on the day that the new zookeeper left the gates open and all of the animals escaped because I love mysteries and it is like I am being investigated as a prime suspect.

  4. On the day the zookeeper left the gates open, and all the animals escaped, was a tragic day.
It was just another day of going to the zoo, and I was simply looking at the enormously tall giraffes, and they were way taller than I was. They were probably ten times my hight.
Then, I looked at the voracious tigers. They were very tired at this time, and the baby ones were so cute! They had their tails, which were striped black and orange, with white on the tip of their tails. I loved to look at them. The adults on the other hand, weren't as cute.
Next, I looked over at the anacondas. They also were hiding and sometimes hard to find. There would be old snake skin they would shed. It would be white, and I was always fascinated in that snake. I was just glad, they were in a cage, and not attacking me.
I was going to the shark exhibit, but then the gates, and all the cages open! The animals have gone loose! I was freaking out, especially about the snakes, because I hate snakes!!!! This was not a good day for me.
I ran out of the zoo, and I could hear everybody screaming, and running around madly!!! I ran to my house, and definitely called it a day. This was the crazy day at the zoo.

    2. "Mr. Frederick, I can't take the Social Studies test because I it is hard to remember ALL the studying we did in the book and at home and I think we should have just a little more time to practice."

    3. It was a totally ZOO (get it) all the different animals everywhere! It kind of felt a little claustrophobic, like I was trapped in a box with all the animals.

  8. I would choose the zookeeper prompt because I could be someone who is going for a light jog and a whole pack of animals run up behind me with the police trying to track them down. The police would stop and tell me I was the one who let the animals out. I would say that I know nothing about the animals escaping. They would forget the animals and chase me. I begged them and persuaded them that I'm not the thief. They understood and apologized for the inconvenience.

  10. I pick story #3.
Beginning: On a warm and sunny day I go to the zoo with a friend. When I get there I hear the sounds of elephants, lions, rhinos, hippos, monkeys, birds, penguins, and snakes calling out. I also see people running and screaming.

Middle: I go to the zoo office and tell the owner that the new zookeeper had let out the animals. The owner was mad and decided to find and fire the zookeeper. I go with the owner to help.

End: I stay to help get the animals back in their cages. I am not scared of the animals and go to find the rhinos to put back first. The elephants are next, then the hippos. After one hour of hard work, all animals are back safely in their cages.

  11. I looked at the bland landscape that surrounded me. It was full of rocks, just rocks. So amy elements had combined to make them, and usually I would be awing at their atomic structure, but there was something on my mind. I am a student of Cal Poly, but we were miles away from campus. We were at a digging site in San Luis Obispo, but we weren't looking for bones, we were looking for a neutrino.
You are probably bored to death already. ("Neutrino????? What the heck is that??????") but the mission I was attempting was more important than anything I have ever done. A neutrino is a extremely small particle that not only passes through matter undetected, they don't have any electric charge at all. They are created from radioactive decay. Very few had ever been detected, but we were going to build a system that will detect them, but they only way to make it so there particles, such as photons don't get in is to build it underground. I wasn't really digging, of course. I was planning with some of my fellow Cal Poly students how we would build the machine inside the massive hole we were creating (sorry worms).
The next day, the hole was completed. Trucks were entering the site with materials to build the machine. We were planning to make it tall with neutrino sensors all over the walls.
As I walked into the hole, my mid was cleared. I, Gigi Pistilli, was going to spot a neutrino and no one could stope me now.

That is my NERDY STORY!!!!!!! *.*

  14. I wanted to add another short story:
Mr. Frederick! I can't take my social studies test! My family is having a emotional breakdown! No one will help me with me test! They are almost getting divorced and we are practically broke! I've just been trying to keep the family together!! my mom says that I can't go to school ever again starting on Monday because she would be to heart broken to see me do well and not go to college. I want to spend my last day at school well!"
(This didn't actually happen. This is just part of the prompt. None of this is true.)

  16. Sally peered inside the zoo "I guess it wouldn't hurt to check it out, the doors are open anyways". Sally entered the zoo alone to see none of the cages were locked, except for the big animals. Sally ran back and forth trying to get in contact with a zookeeper, her parents were on vacation, since she was old enough to stay at home. She couldn't call her mom or dad because they were in vacation. She tried to call the police but she couldn't find a phone.

Monkeys, meerkats, koalas, birds, and all the butterflies were now out. Sally ran to the police station zigzagging through the crowd of people shopping. "Excuse me, sorry, coming through", she reached the front door and knocked loudly on the door. She told the police what happened and the whole team raced to the park, got off running and entered the zoo.

Most of the animals were in their cages, although the butterflies and some of the birds flew off, everything else was fine though. They figured out why all the cages were unlocked and the day was saved thanks to Sally.

  17. 3.
The one day in my life I saw the animals escaped from the zoo. I tried to bring them all back in but I realized I couldn't. So when I realized that I decided that there was only one thing to do, ride the animals.
The first animal I rode was the bull. He ran onto the highway and jumped up and down in circles for a minute. Next I chose the hippo. It wasn't fun because he wen't at 1 MPH.
After like 4 hours of playing around I put all of them back. It took at least 5 hours so when I finished the zoo had opened. And when I knew I was in the clear from trouble I got sent to jail because they got me on camera.

  19. Beginning: "Come on lets get the baby out of here" I said as I saw a hhhhhuuuuggggeeeee T-Rex skeleton. "Man that thing is huge" said my friend next to me.

Middle: As we took the skull out from the ground we saw it clearly for the first time. It was all brown with huge teeth that looked very menacing but the most hideous thing was a big dent in the top of the skull. Someone said next to me "Man that skull is disgusting"

End: As we left the dig site I glanced back at the part of the dinosaur that we had unearth today. It was about half of a leg and a neck and skull. I thought that I could stay there for hour just digging and dusting until the whole creature is unearthed for the public. Little did I know that it wasn't a T-Rex it was something much more dangerous.

  20. Title The day the animals escaped.

It was noon when I ate my lunch. After I ate my lunch I went outside with my brother and when I threw the football too hard and a wolf picked it up we came running inside trying to call the zoo. They said that were many reports of exotic animals and that they would come right away.
When they got there we yelled from the window that the wolf was in the grassy field to the right. Apparently there wasn't just one wolf there were three. One male, one female, and on little cub. There was also a polar bear two blocks away so the whole town was advised to stay indoors and close all windows and doors.
