ENVIRONMENTAL ENTRY

Writers, I'm going to ask you to give yourself your own magic so that you set yourself up to continue to write the most powerful entry you've written yet--in fact you started it today in class.

Consider the conditions in which you can do your best writing at home. Will you be writing alone, doors shut, away from everyone? Will you write at a kitchen table, in the midst of the noise? Will you be listening to music? One famous writer writes standing up at counter. Some go to busy coffee shops and write admist the noise.

ASSIGNMENT: DESCRIBE SOME OF THE THINGS YOU'LL NEED IN ORDER TO WORK ON YOUR PERSONAL NARRATIVE AT HOME. YOU WILL WORK ON THE NARRATIVE AT HOME.   LOOK AT THE QUESTION ABOVE. BE VERY SPECIFIC AND REALISTIC.

  2. I prefer to work near my family because I like to know what’s going on. Therefore, I often work sitting down at a table in the family room. The table has a compartment that pulls out and the computer is inside. Also, there is sometimes a mix of music on. Working near everybody helps me because my parents can help me edit and stay focused. I also sometimes work at my desk in my room where it is peaceful and quite. It helps me concentrate because there are no distractions.

  3. I sometimes like to work at the table in the study where my dad works, and he can help me on editing, and checking to see if there is anything I could add. Other times I like to work on a person narrative on my bed where is quiet, or outside on the picnic table, where there is fresh air and a good place to generate ides.

  4. The best place to do all my homework is in a quiet place. I like to work in my room when I read and at the kitchen when i do my homework. I sometimes blog in the kitchen or in a place where my mom or dad is so they can help me if I need it. I don like to read, blog or do my homework in a noisy place because I can't focus.

  5. I usually work at my desk or the kitchen counter. It's normally noisy in the kitchen but people are quiet at some points. If it is at my desk then my little sister would be plaing Surper Mario Brothers so it's very distracting sometimes. Today I am at my desk and Mario is on but Maddie is busy in something else. Normally I read in my room but I need a fat surface to work on other things when writing. I blog at my desk sometimes but mostly the kitchen so I can be near my parents for help. I generate ideas in my bed while I am trying to go to sleep.

  6. I can make my writing the best it can be, is at my desk where nobody will be able to distract me. My brother can sometimes can annoy me. I generate ideas in bed like Catherine does. Sometimes I would bring my laptop out to the dining room table when Ronan is not around, so I can work with my parent/nanny. I like my room a lot because I have a HUGE window where I can overlook part of my mom's garden, and sometimes just looking out my window and looking at nature, can help me generate ideas.

  7. I can make my writing the best it can be when I'm alone is any room with music playing quietly in the background and the doors shut. I generate ideas if I am by a window. This helps me because when I look out the window my mind goes blank for a second, then ideas just start popping in my head. That my strategy to writing a story!

  10. I write the best when I'm sitting on a branch next to my creek. I love it when birds, crickets, and frogs are chirping. It is better when it is at 5:30 and damp at exactly 72 degrees. I love working at my creek because it helps me generate ideas. Also, I'm usually the only one there considering the fact that I'm the only nature freak in my family.
